The bridges they built quickly collapsed into the murky waters filled with alligators and water moccasins.
They thought they could survive the destruction by holding on to wooden pieces of the bridge that were floating in the water.
But they both let go, so they could survive, and they swam to opposite shores.
He waved goodbye.
She shed a tear.
And, she left him all alone scrabbling for pieces to rebuild the bridge.
Every time he tried, she would tear it down, again, to build a new bridge to the next shore,
so she could get further and further away from him.
Because sometimes bridges should never be restored.
